Since the start of my model building career in 1989, I have successfully completed many high profile national and international projects for many of the major architects and developers throughout Southern Africa.

Over the past 25 years as a professional architectural model builder I have firmly established my reputation in the market place as the preferred model builder of choice and a master of this unique art form.

I have a team of dedicated model builders to assist with the construction of the models and we have a studio in Johannesburg and the Western Cape.

Types of Models and Projects

PRESENTATION MODELS

All aspects of the model are shown in full realistic detail with colour and texture. The model includes a custom made presentation stand and a protective clear Perspex dust cover.

TOPOGRAPHICAL LANDSCAPE MODELS

Small scale models accurately showing the detailed topography of the land and or landscaping eg: golf course models / large residential models.

MONOCHROME BLOCK MASSING MODELS

These are used as a design tool for architects and developers to assist with the early stages of the project.

Scenery and Landscape

I take great pride in the realistic scenic details that we achieve. Aspects such as trees, rocks, beaches, water etc all receive my full attention and this puts our models a cut above the rest.

Lighting

Several options are available to show lighting on the models in the best possible way. Fibre optics, LED’s or Grain of Wheat bulbs are used depending on the project.

Building and Structures

All buildings and structures on the models are made from plastic and Perspex. Technical details are machine cut, laser cut or 3d printed. Detail is achieved down to 0.1mm.

Freighting

All international models are carefully packed into a custom made fumigated pine travel case. They are sent door to door via airfreight and if necessary I follow the model and assemble on site.

Other Models, Projects and Artwork

Through the construction of architectural models, the opportunity to create unique miniature replicas or artworks relating to projects arose. These are limited edition keepsakes or gifts. EG 25 miniature Nelson Mandela Bridge models were made for Grinaker LTA as a handout. Please click here to see the gallery.
